Guest is Stephen Guest’s shop, a bright and friendly barbers in Southsea, at the Fratton end of Fawcett Road. It’s built on one simple idea: everyone who walks through the door should be looked after like a guest.
From a set of keys to a Southsea favourite.
Stephen trained in hairdressing at Chichester College and spent years cutting hair before deciding it was time for a shop of his own. In spring 2024 he took on 17 Fawcett Road and set about turning it into the kind of place he’d want to visit: light, relaxed and properly welcoming, with time for a chat and no rushing you out of the chair.
The team has grown since then, and so has the guest book. Hundreds of five-star reviews later, the regulars keep saying the same things: great cuts, friendly people, and a barber who listens.

Keys in hand
After years in the hair industry, Stephen gets the keys to 17 Fawcett Road and starts renovating. In his words: “very nervous and excited at the same time.”

Doors open
Guest opens with bright walls, oak floors and vintage leather chairs. Within a few months there are almost 80 five-star reviews.

Leah joins
Senior barber Leah joins the team, bringing sharp fades, textured cuts and plenty of chat.

One year in
